Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister to get twin-engine choppers amid security concerns

In a move to bolster the security of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the state government has decided to procure two twin-engine helicopters.

This decision comes in light of intelligence inputs highlighting specific threats from left-wing extremists, terrorists, fundamentalist elements, organised criminal gangs, and anti-social elements targeting the Chief Minister.

The Andhra Pradesh Gazette recently published an approval showcasing the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its Chief Minister.

The gazette stated that the Civil Aviation Corporation of Andhra Pradesh is currently using an aircraft that dates back to 2010, for the Chief Minister’s tour programs. However, due to increased usage, long distances covered, and safety requirements, there’s a proposal to replace this aircraft with a newer and safer one.

The Director General of Police (Intelligence) has requested the formation of a team to study the safety aspects of the aircraft and decide on its replacement.

The Managing Director of AP Aviation Corporation Limited (APACL) has proposed procuring two brand new twin-engine helicopters, less than two years old, to fulfill the flying needs of the Chief Minister and other important dignitaries.
