Bengaluru bus conductor suspended for assaulting woman: Caught on camera


A bus conductor in Bengaluru was suspended after he assaulted a woman onboard the bus. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) took action after a video of the incident went viral.

In the video, the conductor, Honnappa Nagappa Agasar of Kothanur Depot, is seen hitting a woman. An argument took place between the bus conductor and the woman while she was buying the ticket.

In a press release, the state-owned public transport corporation said, “A woman passenger from other state travelling in the bus, there was a verbal altercation between the said passengers and the conductor regarding collecting/issuing the ticket, in which case the conductor hit the lady passenger.”

“Based on the said social media news, disciplinary action has been reserved against Mr Honnappa Nagappa Agasar, Conductor, Token No.-14140, Depot-34 with immediate effect ‘suspended’,” the statement read.

The woman passenger has also filed a complaint against the conductor at the Siddapur police station.
