Bihar: 9 dead in car-truck-motorcyle collision in Kaimur


Nine people were killed in a road accident near Devkali village in Kaimur district in Bihar on Sunday evening.

The incident took place near Devkali village along NH 2, when a speeding car, en route to Varanasi from Sasaram, hit a motorcycle. Then the motorcycle and the car veered into the opposite lane and a truck collided with them.

All eight passengers aboard the car, including two women, and the motorist were killed in the accident. The truck driver fled after the accident.

Police rushed to the spot and the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.

The initial investigation revealed that the car was registered in Buxar and two Aadhar cards, bearing Mumbai addresses, have been recovered from the deceased.

Mohania’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Kumar said that an investigation is on to identify the victims.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar condoled the death of the people in the accident and said in a post on X, “Saddened by the death of people in a horrific road accident near Devkali on NH 2 in Mohania police station area of Kaimur district. Deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.”

He further said that he had instructed the officials to provide proper treatment to the injured.
