Cracks in Congress-Uddhav Sena alliance over Kolhapur Lok Sabha seat: Sources

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra is going through a rough patch with Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction feeling discontented over seat-sharing talks, sources told India Today TV.

The Congress is insisting on giving a ticket to Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, who comes from the family of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, from Kolhapur for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, sources said.

While the Shiv Sena (UBT) is ready to leave the Kolhapur seat for Shahu Maharaj, sources said the party wants him to contest on their symbol.

To resolve the issue, leaders of the MVA met senior politician Sharad Pawar to intervene and find a solution.

Not only Kolhapur, there are differences over other seats as well in the MVA. According to sources, the Uddhav Sena has expressed its displeasure over the Congress and Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction’s claims on Shirur, Satara, Baramati, Hatkanangle, and Sangli seats in western Maharashtra.

Sources said that if Shiv Sena (UBT) is forced to leave Kolhapur, Uddhav Thackeray would not hold a single public meeting in western Maharashtra for MVA’s campaign.
