Bhopal: COVID-19 alert by the Union government issued on December 20 could only encourage people to vaccination for a couple of days — thereafter precaution dose vaccination is again at its all-time low.
If the number of people going for precautionary doses in the past seven days is observed, it is again at the same levels as it was before the alert was issued on December 20. Following the alert, the number of precautionary doses administered per day had nearly doubled, albeit for only a few days.
If official figures are to be believed, between December 1 and December 20, a total of only 17,688 precaution doses were administered in the state as per the official sources. This averages to around 884 people taking precaution doses everyday during the first 20 days of this month.
However, as COVID-19 alert of the Union government regarding cases being reported in some other countries of the world was issued on December 20, there was a significant increase in the number of people opting for precaution doses.
Between December 21 and December 31, a total of 19,587 precaution doses were administered in the state. This averaged to 1,780 precaution doses being administered daily during this period. However, this was only a short lived enthusiasm as between January 1 and January 7, only 4,979 precaution doses were administered in the state, which averages to around 711 precaution doses being administered every day during this period.
This average of 711 precaution doses, is even less than the average 884 precaution doses that were administered before the government issued an alert on December 20.
