By India Today Entertainment Desk: RRR made the nation proud when the Naatu Naatu song from the SS Rajamouli film bagged an Oscar for the Best Original Song. It made history by being the first song from an Indian production to bag the prestigious award. However, soon after its victory, reports started doing the rounds that director SS Rajamouli had spent a whopping amount for the film’s campaign ahead of the award season. In fact, a report claimed that the director spent as much as Rs 80 crores on the campaigning. Now, RRR’s producer, DVV Danayya, has opened up about it.

DVV Danayya has finally opened up about rumours of Rs 80 crores being spent on RRR’s campaign in the West ahead of the Oscars season. Talking to Telugu 360, the producer said, “I also heard about the money spent for the Oscar campaign. I haven’t spent any money for the campaign and I am not aware of what happened exactly. But no one spends Rs 80 crores for an award event. There would be no profits involved in it.”

Another rumour that was doing the rounds was that only Chandrabose and MM Keeravaani, along with their spouses, were given free tickets for the Oscars. SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, Jr NTR had to pay about $25,000 (about Rs 20 lakh) to attend the main event. IndiaToday.in exclusively got in touch with Team RRR, who told us that this report is false. The Oscars was attended by SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, wife Upasana Konidela, Jr NTR, MM Keeravaani, Chandrabose, Naatu Naatu singers Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj, and others attended Oscars in Los Angeles.
