‘Error’: Enforcement Directorate on Bansuri Sawaraj’s name in AAP MP’s bail case

Bansuri Swaraj’s name, in connection with the bail to Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh, crept inadvertently, the Enforcement Directorate told the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Sanjay Singh was granted bail on the Enforcement Directorate’s concession, in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Delhi liquor policy case.

The matter was mentioned by Zoheb Hossain, the probe agency’s counsel, before a bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who was sitting on a special bench with Justices MM Sundresh and Bela M Trivedi.

“Due to an inadvertent error, Bansuri Swaraj’s name is mentioned in the order. Ms Bansuri Swaraj was neither engaged nor did she appear in the matter,” Hossain told the top court.

Hossain further said that the error may be corrected, saying a formal application had been moved, and the error might be on the part of the central agency “mechanically” giving names of advocates.

In response, Justice Khanna said, “It will be corrected.”

After Bansuri’s name surfaced, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj, in an X post, alleged the BJP and the Enforcement Directorate were the same.
