George Clooney on Matthew Perry’s drug alcohol addiction I had no idea it’s heartbreaking

Hollywood star George Clooney recently opened up about Friends star Matthew Perry’s death. The actor said that he had no idea that Matthew was suffering this much.

Speaking to Deadline, Clooney said, “We just knew that he wasn’t happy and I had no idea he was doing what, 12 Vicodin a day and all the stuff he talked about, all that heartbreaking stuff,” he said, referring to the admissions Perry had made in his memoir.

George Clooney said that filming Friends did not give Matthew any happiness.

The actor stated, “He (Matthew Perry) was a kid and all he would say to us, I mean me, Richard Kind and Grant Heslov, was, ‘I just want to get on a sitcom, man. I just want to get on a regular sitcom and I would be the happiest man on earth.’ And he got on probably one of the best ever. He wasn’t happy. It didn’t bring him joy or happiness or peace.”

“And it also just tells you that success and money and all those things, it doesn’t just automatically bring you happiness. You have to be happy with yourself and your life,” Clooney added.

Clooney and Perry were filming ER and Friends, respectively, in the same area at the time. Clooney even had a cameo in Friends in its earlier seasons.

Matthew Perry died on October 28 in Los Angeles. The actor’s autopsy stated that Perry died due to ketamine and buprenorphine, Page Six reported.
