RePharma Summit: Innovations disrupting Indian pharma industry

New Delhi: India plays a vital role in the global pharmaceuticals and vaccine industry. Reports show that India stands third for volume-wise pharmaceutical production across the world. Fuelled further by the global pandemic, the industry witnessed immense contributions from a new wave of technological advancements with AI, machine learning, drug design technologies, logistics-supply chain innovations, and game-changing discoveries.

To decode the digital, technological and innovative disruptions in the pharmaceutical sector, ushered in by the entrepreneurial spirits of the veterans and experts of the industry, The Economic Times is back with the third edition of India Pharmaworld Summit themed ‘The Future is NOW,’ with presenting partner Anervea, knowledge partner IBM, in association with Salesforce, gold partners Veeva and Wolters Kluwer, analytics partner Qlik Q, and supporting partners Zota Healthcare Ltd and Davaindia.

An initiative by ETHealthworld, The RePharma Summit will witness Nawin Sona, Principal Secretary, Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra, take the stage as the guest of honour, to share his insights into the current pharmaceutical scenario in India and the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead for the sector.

Panel discussions:

The summit will host influential leaders from the Indian pharmaceutical industry, who will meet and deliberate on some of the most pertinent issues. The focus will be on crucial areas affecting the sector such as drug discovery, vaccine manufacturing and supply chain management that have enabled the industry’s tremendous growth over the years through the power of innovation, technology and governmental policies.

Following the guest of honour’s address, the inaugural panel will see participation from Sanjiv Navangul, Managing Director & CEO, Bharat Serums & Vaccine, Dr Shekhar Mande, Former Director General, CSIR, Dr Sanjay Singh, CEO, Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, and Dr Rahul Paruwar, Founder and CEO, ImmunoAct and Vikas Dandekar, Editor, Health & Pharma, ETPrime as moderator. The inaugural panel is themed ‘India’s Vaccine, Diagnostics and Therapeutics Clout – The Truth Behind the Story.’

Next up, TEDx Speaker, Ayush Atul Mishra, Managing Partner, Head Of Data Science, Anervea, will conduct a partner presentation on ‘Next-Gen Data Driven Commercialization for Pharmaceutical Companies in India.’

The subsequent panel discussion will be on ‘ Strengthening Indian Pharma through Innovation’. Moderated by Ganesan V P, Distribution Sector Leader, India/South Asia, IBM, the panellists include Sreeji Gopinathan, Global CIO, Lupin, Ganesh Ramachandran, CIO, Alkem, Phani Mitra, Head Digital & Process Excellence, India & Emerging Markets, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, and Sujith Eramangalath, Board Advisor, Anervea.

This will be followed by a special address on technological advancements driving the future of Indian pharma by Geena Malhotra, Global CIO, CIPLA Ltd.

After a partner presentation on ‘Accelerating Innovation through Life Sciences Industry Cloud’ by Varadarajan Srinivasan, General Manager, Veeva Systems, and a partner presentation by Aditi Sharma, Director, Health and Transformation, Salesforce India, Vikas Dandekar will moderate the panel discussion on ‘Vision of Thought Leaders in Shaping the Pharma Industry’. The panel will consist of Vikrant Shrotriya, MD & CVP, Novo Nordisk, Shyamakant Giri, MD & President, Amneal Pharma, Dharmesh Shah, CMD, BDR Pharma, Maharukh Rustomjee, Chief Scientist and Founder, Amaterasu Lifesciences LLP.

The thought leader’s panel discussion will be followed by a partner presentation by Chaitanya Avasarala – Founder and CEO and Neha Vashi, Territory Account Manager, Qlik, Diagonal Consulting, on ‘Maximizing the value of your SAP Data, Top Pharma Solutions with Qlik.’ Another partner presentation on ‘Embracing Digital Health at Every Stage of Care: From Clinicians to Hospitals and Pharmaceuticals’ by Ruchi Tushir, Vice President & General Manager, Wolters Kluwer – Global Growth Market (GGM India) will follow.

The partner presentations will be succeeded by ‘Fireside Chat: Embracing Digitalization in the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain: Scope & Challenges’ between Pradeep Gadre, Managing Director, SciTech Healthcare, and Pharmapoint. Following the fireside chat, Dr Sujit Paul, Group CEO, Zota Healthcare will conduct a partner presentation on ‘Pioneering Action to Take the Company to the Next Level and Lead in the Area of Pharma Retail Segment.’

The final panel discussion of the summit on ‘Criticality of Cyber-Security in the Indian Pharma Industry,’ the discussion between panel member Bijender Mishra, CISO and General Manager, Alkem Laboratories and moderator Amit Mittal, Associate Partner, IBM Consulting Security Services will conclude the panel discussions with the perspective of safety in data on the cloud, the safer bet between the cloud and premise, and the ways to ensuring data residency and compliance in the pharma industry.

The summit will conclude with India Pharmaworld Awards to acknowledge the efforts and hard work of industry stakeholders who have been spearheading innovative and technological advancements to strengthen India’s position as the ‘pharmacy of the world.’
