Maharashtra: Anti-Terrorism Squad arrests 4 over links to Pakistan-based operatives


The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra recently arrested a man after receiving information that he had allegedly been in contact with a Pakistan-based Intelligence Operative (PIO). Three others with whom he had been communicating were also arrested.

He had allegedly shared confidential and sensitive information concerning the Indian Defence forces, according to the ATS.

The individual in question served as an apprentice in a city-based establishment providing services to the Indian Defence forces.

After the ATS received this information, it interrogated the accused person and conducted a search operation on his premises and online devices.

Throughout the investigation, it emerged that the accused had been introduced to two PIOs via Facebook and WhatsApp between April or May 2023 and October 2023.

The accused allegedly shared confidential information about restricted areas of the Government of India and accepted money online from the PIOs.

In connection with this case, the accused had contact with three other individuals. The four people were arrested at the Anti-Terrorism Squad police station, with a case registered. The ATS is currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
