Mamata Banerjee was unreachable: Late Trinamool MP Tapas Pal’s family alleges party offered no help after his death

The wife of late Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and actor Tapas Pal recently alleged neglect by the TMC leadership including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after Pal’s death in a Facebook post.

While speaking to India Today TV, Pal’s wife Nandini Pal and daughter Sohini Pal said they were disappointed with the TMC’s response following Tapas Pal’s death.

The two-time TMC MLA and MP from Krishnanagar, West Bengal, had a history of controversy, including a regrettable comment during the election campaign and a stint in jail.

Nandini Pal revealed their frustration, stating, “Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee promised that the party would help us after Tapas Pal’s jail custody. We gave a Rs 1 crore bond for Tapas’ bail, with the party assuring financial assistance. However, no one, including Mamata Banerjee, fulfilled these promises. I had to break my FD to pay for the bail.”

She further added, “Didi (Mamata Banerjee) told me that Moloy Ghatak had sorted everything out. Despite repeated calls from Partha Chatterjee and Moloy Ghatak, there was no response. Moloy Ghatak eventually answered at night but offered no help.”

Sohini Pal, Tapas Pal’s daughter, made allegations against Bengal Minister Aroop Biswas, claiming, “When my father’s body was brought from Mumbai to Kolkata, Aroop Biswas was with us and assured us of his support in front of the camera. However, he later blocked our phone number.”

Nandini Pal also expressed frustration at attempts to communicate with Mamata Banerjee after Tapas Pal’s death, receiving no response. They lamented the lack of support, with Sohini stating, “Although there was a team on Mahua Moitra’s side, no one was seen on Tapas’ side.”

The Trinamool leadership has recently voiced support for Mahua Maitra amid her expulsion as a Lok Sabha MP. Despite initially remaining silent on the issue of bribery in Parliament, Mamata Banerjee has now expressed strong support for Moitra.

In response to this, Nandini and Sohini raised concerns, stating that while there was a supportive team for Moitra, there was a noticeable absence of support for Tapas.
