A four-month-old baby boy died in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district after a troop of monkeys snatched him from his father and threw him off a three-storey house.

The incident took place on Friday evening in Bareilly’s Dunka area, which comes under Shahi police station.

According to the family, the father was walking on the roof of the three-storey house carrying the baby in his arms. Suddenly, a troop of monkeys came on the roof and attacked the father.

The man cried for help but before other members of the family could come to their rescue, the monkeys had snatched the baby boy and thrown him off the roof. The infant died on the spot.

The monkeys also attacked other family members when they reached the roof. The monkeys had also bit the father.

The deceased infant had one sibling, seven years older than him. The family were preparing for his name-day ceremony before the mishap took place.
