The central government is gearing up for the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Parliament which is all set to commence on July 18, Monday and will conclude on August 12.
During the session, the Centre is ready to announce 24 Bills, including the Cantonment Bill and the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Bill.
Some of the other bills listed for introduction are — the Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill, the Development of Enterprises and Services Hubs Bill, which proposes to revise the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and frame rules, the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) (Amendment) Bill, the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill and the Competition (Amendment) Bill.
In addition to 24 Bills, a further eight Bills are already pending before both Houses.
Furthermore, the President and the Vice-President are also set to be elected during this Monsoon Session. The first day of the session will see MPs voting for the Presidential elections in the polling booths in Parliament, followed by counting of votes on July 21.

MEETINGS AHEAD OF MONSOON SESSION
Ahead of the commencement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called a party meeting on Sunday morning at the Parliament Annexe building, seeking smooth functioning of the Monsoon Session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to be a part of the meeting.
The Opposition is also expected to hold a meeting on Sunday to discuss the strategies for the upcoming Monsoon Session. They will discuss a joint strategy to ponder the central government. The invite for the Opposition meeting has also been extended to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, appealed to the leaders to make the session productive even as the government sought the Opposition’s cooperation in the smooth conduct of the legislative business.
CONGRESS TO RAISE INFLATION, AGNIPATH ISSUES
Congress has zeroed in on three broad issues which would be raised in Parliament. These include surging inflation, rising fuel prices, the Agnipath scheme, unemployment and the fall of the Rupee against the Dollar.
Top Congress leaders met on Thursday to discuss the strategy and to decide on the matters to be raised during the session.
“LPG cylinder rate, price rise, unemployment and falling Rupee was the first issue which was discussed. Second being the Agnipath Scheme, weakening of military capacity and the continued tension with China in eastern Ladakh. And the third concern was the continued misuse of agencies/institutions and attack on democracy. We will ask for debate and discussions in both Houses,” said a Rajya Sabha MP who was present at the meeting.
