Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge along with party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will address a rally in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city on December 28 which will be held on the occasion of the party’s foundation day.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal announced the rally on Friday and said more than 10 lakh party workers from across the country would be in attendance. He also chaired a meeting with leaders of the Maharashtra Congress in Nagpur.
The meeting was attended by Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole, former state minister Balasaheb Thorat, Leader of Opposition in the assembly Vijay Wadettiwar, former chief ministers Ashok Chavan and Prithrviraj Chavan, senior leader Mukul Wasnik, among others.
The recent security breach of Lok Sabha and the suspension of 14 MPs for the remainder of the Winter Session were discussed during the meeting in Nagpur.
After the meeting, Venugopal said, “Through this rally, we will send a strong message to each and every Indian that this will not be allowed to go on any further and the Congress will give a new path for India’s progress.”
He added that the entire country is “in pain” because of unemployment, price rise, hatred and “a collapse of India’s democratic institutions”.
