A Q400 plane of SpiceJet conducted a priority landing at the Mumbai airport after its windshield cracked at 23,000 feet altitude on Tuesday, reported news agency PTI. This is the second technical glitch the airline faced on Tuesday as SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi – Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning.
The DGCA has ordered a probe into both the incidents, along with the previous five incidents, PTI reported. This is at least the seventh incident of technical malfunction happening on SpiceJet aircraft in the last 17 days.
Earlier in the day, SpiceJet’s Delhi-Dubai flight was diverted to Karachi as the fuel indicator started malfunctioning.
The private airline in a tweet said, “On July 5, 2022, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi – Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning. The aircraft landed safely at Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked.” (sic)

SpiceJet’s replacement aircraft was despatched from Mumbai and landed at the Karachi airport at 6.15 PM (IST). This plane departed from Karachi at 9.45 PM (IST) with the passengers to Dubai.

“Kandla-Mumbai flight of SpiceJet was at 23,000 feet altitude when the windshield’s outer pane cracked.The pilots then conducted priority landing at the Mumbai airport,” officials were quoted by PTI as saying.
Reacting to the latest incident, SpiceJet said, “On 5th July, 2022, SpiceJet Q400 aircraft was operating SG 3324 (Kandla – Mumbai). During cruise at FL230, P2 side windshield outer pane cracked. Pressurization was observed to be normal. The aircraft landed safely in Mumbai.”

RECENT INCIDENTS OF TECHNICAL SNAG
Of late, SpiceJet carrier flights have been witnessing a series of technical snags. SpiceJet has been under fire due to back-to-back incidents.
On July 2, a Spicejet aircraft had to return to Delhi after a crew member noticed smoke in the cabin. A SpiceJet aircraft operating from Delhi to Jabalpur returned safely to the Delhi airport this morning after the crew noticed smoke in the cabin while passing 5000ft.
On June 19, a SpiceJet aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at the Bihta Airforce Station in Patna after the flight’s left wing caught fire. Patna District Magistrate, Chandrashekhar Singh, had said that flames were seen on the left wing of the aircraft and the reason for the fire was a suspected technical glitch.
On the same day, a Jabalpur-bound SpiceJet flight had to make an emergency landing on Sunday after cabin pressure onboard dropped.
