Teleconsultations at Delhi-AIIMS for all depts from April 1

New Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has decided to start teleconsultation OPD for all follow-up patients in all departments from April 1, 2023. It was started as a pilot project in the cardiology department from November 15.

The patients will be able to take appointments for tele-follow-up, if advised, on ors.gov.in as per slots available like they do for their routine online OPD appointments. “All departments are requested to plan their OPD schedules accordingly so that an adequate number of tele-follow-up slots are available for patients seeking this facility if advised by the treating consultant,” said an office memorandum issued by the director, Professor M Srinivas.

One of the senior doctors said that this facility would be helpful for those patients who visit AIIMS from other states just to reconfirm their ongoing medication or alteration in their course or change in their diet after a month of surgery. The facility will avoid long distance travel for them for routine advice, the doctor added.

“On the day of their OPDs, doctors see new and follow-up patients together, but once the number of follow up patients reduces, more new patients could be seen and people will not have to wait for months for online appointments,” said another senior doctor, adding that per day slots of a new and follow-up patients is given by doctors for their OPDs.
