HIGHLIGHTS

  • India won their 4th straight T20I series against England
  • Ravindra Jadeja’s 46 not out helped India post 170
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jaspit Bumrah jolted the England batting

Days after being humbled in the rescheduled 5th Test by an English side that is going through a revival in Test cricket at Edgbaston in Birmingham, India flaunted their new approach to T20I cricket and completed a series win over Jos Buttler’s England on their return to the iconic venue.

Playing a rejuvenated brand of aggressive T20I cricket, India outclassed England by xx runs and sealed an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series.

It was India’s 4th straight T20I series win over England, which includes their 2-1 win in Old Blighty under Virat Kohli’s captaincy in 2018 and two home series victories.

England vs India, 2nd T20I Updates

After winning the series opener by 50 runs in which India batters kept walking in and hitting them big, India followed a similar pattern in the 2nd T20I despite making 4 changes to the side. The Test regulars, who returned to the T20I side after missing the opener in Southampton, bought into the theory as India kept the scoring rate high despite losing wickets at regular intervals.

Questions were asked as to how India would approach the 2nd T20I as the flag bearers of the aggressive batting approach — Deepak Hooda and Ishan Kishan — were left out to accommodate the likes of Kohli and Rishabh Pant. However, there was no let-up in intensity as Rohit’s men kept coming and hitting them big after England won the toss and opted to bowl.
