BJP distances itself from LeT terrorist Talib Hussain, demands NIA probe

The BJP has distanced itself from captured Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Talib Hussain and denied that he had been a member of the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit.

Talib Hussain was arrested in Reasi district on Sunday along with another LeT militant. It was learnt that Hussain had allegedly infiltrated the BJP and was even made in-charge of Jammu province’s Minority Morcha’s IT & Social Media cell.

The saffron party had initially claimed that Hussain had resigned from the BJP in May this year after being a member for only 18 days. Now, J&K BJP Chief Ravinder Raina has categorically stated that he was never directly associated with the party in any capacity.

“Talib Hussain wasn’t even a member of the BJP. He used to visit BJP office in the garb of journalist,” Raina told India Today.

Alleging that top J&K BJP leaders and office-holders were on Hussain’s hit-list, Raina has sought a probe by the National Investigation Agency in the matter.

“Talib Hussain did recce of my office. He sent videos of my office to his Pakistani handlers. He used to meet BJP leaders by posing as a journalist. We demand NIA probe,” he said.

Raina said the party has issued a show cause notice to Minority Morcha Chief Sheikh Bashir and asked him to reply within 48 hours. “He [Bashir]doesn’t have the authority to make any appointment. Every appointment in the party is made by the President,” the BJP leader said.

TALIB HUSSAIN APPREHENDED

Two terrorists — Faizal Ahmed Dar from Pulwama and Talib Hussain of Rajouri — were arrested with the help of residents of Tukson Dhok village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. Police recovered two AK rifles, seven grenades, and a pistol from the arrested terrorists.

Rajouri Police had recently recovered a large number of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and had busted a module, in which two LeT terrorists were arrested and Talib Hussain was declared an absconder, and a reward was announced.

Hussain was in constant touch with LeT terrorist Qasim based in Pakistan and was involved in at least three cases of IED blasts in the Rajouri district, besides civilian killings and grenade blasts, police said.
