India reports 18,840 new Covid-19 cases, 43 deaths; active cases increase by 2,693

India, on Saturday, July 9, registered 18,840 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 0.1% higher than yesterday. It brought the total caseload to 4,36,04,394. As many as 43 deaths were reported in the country in the same duration, increasing the total reported death count to 5,25,386.

The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 3,310 cases, followed by West Bengal with 2,950 cases, Maharashtra with 2,944 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,722 cases and Karnataka with 1,037 cases.

Nearly 68.81% of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 17.57% of the new cases.

A total of 16,104 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brought the total recoveries to 4,29,53,980 across the country. India’s recovery rate now stands at 98.51%.

India’s active caseload stands at 1,25,028. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 2,693.

India administered a total of 12,26,795 doses in the last 24 hours, which brought the total tally of doses administered to 1,98,65,36,288.

A total of 4,54,778 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
