Celebrated Australia Test opener Michael Slater collapsed in court on Tuesday after his bail application was rejected. The 54-year-old cricketer needed help to get back on his feet in the court at the Queensland state. He was remanded in police custody and charged with multiple domestic violence offences including stalking and intimidation.

Police allegations against Michael Slater were detailed in the court even as he applied for bail on Tuesday. Slater was arrested over the weekend, facing 19 charges, some of them including unlawful stalking, assault occasioning bodily harm, and choking or strangulation.

Slater, however, denied all the allegations in the court, Australian media said. Slater was taken into custody after his bail application was refused and his matter was listed for a committal hearing on May 31.

Slater was arrested on Friday following complaints of domestic violence over several days. Some of the alleged violent acts were even captured on CCTV camera at the women’s property, according to Fox Sports. Slater was also charged with breaching bail and 10 counts of ‘contravening a domestic violence order’.

Slater played 74 Tests and 42 ODIs betwen 1993 and 2001 for Australia. The right-handed batter scored 5312 runs, including 14 hundreds in Tests and 987 runs in a failed ODI career. Slater played his last domestic match in 2003 and took up commentary duties after his retirement.
