Shiv Sena Member of Parliaments in a meeting on Monday at Matoshree demanded support for NDA’s presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will take a decision in this regard in the next two days, said MP Gajanan Kirtikar, who was present at the meeting.

Therefore, all eyes are now on Uddhav Thackeray’s decision, whether he will give in to the pressure of MPs or stay with the Opposition candidate.

Sources said that Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut strongly supported Yashwant Sinha during the meeting. Therefore, the contradiction between Sanjay Raut and other MPs was imminent. After the meeting, Sanjay Raut left Matoshree without speaking to the media.

Meanwhile, 12 Shiv Sena MPs from Lok Sabha attended today’s meeting out of 19. Seven MPs didn’t attend the meeting, including Shrikant Shinde (son of Eknath Shinde) and Bhawana Gawli.

Kiritkar said that two of their MPs are not well and a few were not able to reach Mumbai. “All the MPs who were present have shown their support to Uddhav ji. Most MPs supported Murmu as she is a tribal woman candidate. In the past, Sena has also supported opposition candidates like Pratibha Patil and Pranab Mukherjee. Party chief will give his decision in the next few days.

Lok Sabha MPs Gajanan Kirtikar, Arvind Sawant, Vinayak Raut, Hemant Godse, Dhairyasheel Mane, Rahul Shewale, Prataprao Jadhav, Shrirang Barne, Sadashiv Lokhande, Omraje Nimbalkar, Rajendra Gavit and Ranjan Vichare were present in the meeting.
