Will move court if police don’t take action against Mahua Moitra, says BJP’s Suvendhu Adhikari

West Bengal BJP leader Suvendhu Adhikari on Monday led a protest march against TMC leader Mahua Moitra in her constituency Krishnagar to protest against the remarks made by the former on Goddess Kali. The Leader of the Opposition said that if the police failed to take action against Mahua Moitra within ten days, then the BJP would approach the High Court.

Suvendhu Adhikari hit out at the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said, “She chose a MP [Mahua Moitra] from Krishnagar who is engaged in appeasement politics.”

“Krishnanagar created many political leaders in the past. It is a matter of shame that Mamata Banerjee chose an MP from this land who does appeasement politics,” he said.

The BJP leader said, “In the name of securalism, Hindu gods and goddesses are targeted. Mahua Moitra got a lot of Hindu votes from Krishnagar in 2019, but now people are angry over her remarks. Action must be taken against this. People associated with Sanatan Dharm do not accept this.”

Hindu voters will teach Mamata Banerjee a lesson in the next state assembly elections, Suvendhu Adhikari said.

The BJP also organised a Kali puja prior to the protest march and termed it as ‘sudhikaran’.

‘CAA TO BE IMPLEMENTED SOON’

Suvendhu Adhikari took potshots at Mamata Banerjee and said, “Mamata Banerjee said there will be jihad against the BJP. BJP is the largest party and it is backed by the support of large people. We have seen Jihad led by Mamata Banerjee also during the CAA movement, on the post poll violence and also on the Nupur Sharma issue.”

He said that the CAA will be implemented very soon and they also want a population control bill.

“If you pelt stones at me, I will not reply with rasgullas. Remember that,” the Bengal BJP leader said.

Adhikari, who was earlier associated with the TMC, posed questions to the authorities of ISKON and said, “Why did they allow Mamata Banerjee to inaugurate the Rathyatra? She was wearing slippers while she was on the rath. Last year, the CM was accompanied by Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim and TMC MP Nushrat Jahan. It’s a known fact that only a Sanatani can touch the rope during the Rathyatra.”

“If you consider yourself a Hindu, then formation of a Rashtravadi government is just a matter of time now,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BJP has planned to take out a rally in Krishnagar’s Bethuadahari on August 14 once section 144 is removed. The rally will be taken out ahead of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The saffron party will also take out a Shravan Yatra to Tarakeswar during the month of Shravan.

KALI REMARK

During a session at the India Today Conclave East 2022, Mahua Moitra said that Kali, for her, was a meat-eating, alcohol-accepting goddess. Moitra said this in response to a controversy over a movie poster showing Goddess Kaali smoking and holding an LGBTQ flag.

The poster of the documentary film ‘Kaali’ at the centre of the row recently went viral on social media with several people saying that the poster was an insult to the Hindu goddess and hurt religious sentiments.

Following TMC MP Mahua Moitra’s remark about Kaali, the TMC had announced that Moitra’s views were not endorsed by the party. “All India Trinamool Congress strongly condemns such comments,” wrote the party’s official handle on Twitter.
